To Kill a Mockingbird help!!?

In to kill a mockingbird, how did scout's interactions with mr.cunningham supports the idea of ''the best of human beings can triumph over the worst animal instincts of a gang''

and anything about the light and dark imagery (positive and negative imagery) in the jailhouse scene

I had to read that book last year...um if I remember correctly scout was totally unaware of the fact that the mob was about to kill tom Robinson and she knew Mr. Cunningham through his son so she thought she would just have a friendly conversation with him so basically because of her innocence she saved her father from getting beat up.

oh and the imagery is easy Atticus was sitting in the dark except for the lamp next to him which symbolizes him(the light) because he has an ''enlightened'' mind set towards racism and is not in the shadows (racism) the mob
