These are all monuments.



Taj Mahal--Monument built by a Indian king for his wife.



Leaning Tower of Piza--Monumental bell tower built to symbolize and showcase military prosperity in Italy during the late 1200's



Great Sphinx-- a monumental sculpture in Egypt believed to have been built to honor some king, often believed to have been king Khafra



Eiffel Tower--a monument built to mark the 100-year anniversary of the French Revolution ( and a showcase for the world's fair)



Washington Monument-- monument built to honor a great American president, George Washington



Arc De Triomphe-- a monument built to honor the fighters of French wars, mainly the wars during the French Revolution



Big Ben-- structure built to honor parliment and show the power of Britain at the time



Sydney opera house-- built as a tribute to Australian heritage and culture, and as a performing arts center
